professional development
The Centre is offering a professional development guidance in photography.
Two major mentoring programs focus on general/ creative photography, and the business side of photography.
Both courses are aimed at developing your personal skills further, to achieve your goals.
The core purpose of the Mentoring Program is to help photographers to find their balance and advance in a daunting industry. The Program has two main streams, one focusing on creative photography, the other on the business of commercial photography.
Participants will be taken through many steps, depending on their own individual requirements.
You can expect the following challenges, amongst others:
- comments and critique
- learning the missing links
- working out the path that you want to pursue
- participation in an interactive conversation with relevant outcomes
Mentoring is the art of listening.
The emphasis and outcomes of the program therefore rest with the participants. It will be the common task to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the mentoree and to create a path to the personal outcomes desired.
There is no set syllabus. The Mentoring Program will adapt and develop with the progress of participants over a period of 10 months.
Depending on the number of participants, the program may take place in a group situation with a focus on the individuality of each participant.
A successful outcome always will depend on your commitment and your ability to solve issues.
We have chosen mentor photographers, who have run successful practices for a long time, and who have a deep commitment to share their knowledge as well as their commitment.
The allocation of these mentors will be based on individual needs.
Upon receiving your application, the program director will be in touch with you.
A meeting will take place to ensure that your goals are relevant and that compatibility possible.
The cost of each complete program is $1650 (incl. GST) per student. The program runs over 10 weeks, (6 sessions, a 3-hour meeting once a fortnight, for a total of 20 hours.

” The Business Mentoring Program offered a great insight into the industry. Coming from a bachelor of photography, it highlighted that there was a whole other side to photography that I hadn’t learned, and that was business. The program offered support, to bounce ideas of like-minded people, meet industry experts and form friendships. Business is something that I will continually learn about, but the mentoring program helped give me that step up that I needed.”
