We’re glad you found us! Our darkroom is a creative space designed for photographers who love the magic of film. Whether you’re an experienced printer or just getting started, we’re here to support your needs.
Our darkroom is available exclusively to members for hire. (Details here). To ensure a comfortable workspace, we accommodate a maximum of two people per session, with hire charges calculated per person.
Booking your session is easy—just use our online inquiry/ booking system or send us an email. You can schedule a session anywhere from 3 days in advance to 3 months ahead, giving you flexibility to plan your workflow.
Our darkroom is fully equipped to process Black & White film, including 35mm, 120, and sheet film. We have enlargers set up for 35mm, 6×6, 6×7, 6×9, and 4×5 formats.
We understand that every photographer has their preferred chemicals, so our rental fee does not include processing or printing chemicals. However, we do stock a range of Ilford developers, stop baths, fixers, and washing solutions available for separate purchase—everything you need to achieve the perfect print.
Members enjoy discounted prices on film, paper, and chemicals, plus two free darkroom hours per year!
Payment is due upon entry, and we accept credit cards (excluding AMEX), EFTPOS, and cash.
Membership ensures that you’re familiar with our equipment, can work independently, and understand the health and safety aspects of darkroom chemicals. If you’d like to join, just fill out our membership form and send it over to us.
Got questions? We’re happy to help! We look forward to seeing you in the darkroom soon.
The Maud Gallery and the Queensland Centre for Photography are now closed until February 8, 2025.
We wish you happy and safe holidays.
