World Photobook Day
In celebration of World Photobook Day, we will be live-streaming from the Gallery with Peter Adams from his studio in the Blue Mountains, chatting about his latest and long awaited book A FEW OF THE LEGENDS.
Join us at the Gallery to also meet renowned photographers John Elliott and Robyn Hills, who will talk about their latest photographic book releases, followed by an informal Q&A.
We are privileged to have, hot-off-the-press, a preview of John Elliott’s WINTON MEMORIES and Robyn Hills’ DOTS OF LIFE books and a sneak pre-production preview of Peter Adams’ book A FEW OF THE LEGENDS, which has been a work in progress for over 30 years.
As part of our celebration, the Gallery will showcase selected images from the books, specially printed for the event.

Peter Adams undertook to photograph the legends of photography back in the ’80s. The result is an extraordinary collection of images and portraits of legendary photographers. This will, without a doubt, become one of the key photographic books of the decade. A monumental achievement following 38 years of relentless effort. The book is in production, with an expected November release. We will have a pre-production copy at the Gallery on the night.
John Elliott
Winton memories
Winton-based photographer and writer John Elliott has been taking portraits of the stars of Australian Country Music for over 30 years including Keith Urban, Troy Cassar-Daley and many more. But perhaps his most famous association is with the great Slim Dusty. During this time John was founding editor of Australian Country Music Magazine and wrote a weekly music column for Australasian Post Magazine. Since 1980 John has been self-employed as a writer, photographer and documentary maker, mostly concerned with Australian culture, the bush and music. His book is the portrait of an Iconic town miles beyond the black stump.
Robyn Hills

Robyn is one of Australia’s highest awarded photographers. Photography comes as a natural talent to Robyn, and now she also fuses fine art and fashion with her unique creative eye. Based on the Sunshine Coast, Robyn lectures in photography and business around Australia, writes for professional photography magazines, and has exhibited in Australia, Tokyo, New York and Paris. People matter to Robyn, and she regularly volunteers to aid Indigenous communities in Central Australia and orphanages in Africa and Cambodia.
