Master the timeless craft of platinum/palladium printing in this hands-on, full-day workshop guided by fine art photographer Julian Pearce. Group Size: Max. 4 participants (small group = more hands-on time)

What You’ll Learn:

A brief history and aesthetic overview of platinum/palladium printing

How to work with digital negatives and large format film (by arrangement)

How to hand-coat watercolour paper with platinum/palladium solutions
-
The full printing process: exposing, developing, and clearing your prints

Tonal control: achieving warm or cool tones

Where to source chemicals and suitable papers
-
Insight into related processes like kallitypes, van dyke brown, and salt prints
You’ll create two platinum/palladium prints using your own images and leave with both your final artworks and detailed workshop notes.
Before the Workshop:
Please email two digital images to the instructor in advance. These will be used to create custom digital negatives for your prints.

About the Tutor – Julian Pearce
Julian Pearce trained under Gordon Undy of Sydney’s Point Light Gallery, continuing a direct teaching lineage from George Tice, a pioneer of the platinum/palladium revival in the U.S. Julian has exhibited widely, including at the Queensland Centre for Photography and is a contributor to The Spirit Within Australia, held in major state and international libraries.
