Welcome to our comprehensive 3-hour Film Processing workshop, where you will learn everything you need to know to process your own black-and-white film! This workshop is perfect for those who have no previous experience with darkroom processing, as well as those who may have done it in the past and want to refresh their skills.
Our workshop is offered on the first Wednesday and first Saturday of each month, starting at 9 am. If you are interested in attending, simply email us your preferred date and we will get back to you with availability.
During the workshop, you will receive one-on-one tuition to ensure you get the most out of your experience. We encourage you to bring along a 35mm-24 exposure or 120mm exposed undeveloped film, which you will process yourself as part of the workshop. This will give you hands-on experience and the confidence to process your own film in the future.
Our workshop covers everything you need to know to safely work with chemicals, including storing, preparation, disposal, and safety. You will learn about the equipment you need to develop black-and-white films, such as tanks, spirals, and measuring beakers. We will teach you how to load your film into a spiral, ready for processing, and how to process black and white film. You will learn about temperatures, agitation, washing, and drying, and how to store and care for your negatives.
In addition, we will show you how to evaluate your negatives, so you can determine if they are properly exposed and developed. This is an essential skill for anyone who wants to create high-quality black-and-white prints.
