June 28 – July 2, 2023
The vision at the heart of this collective effort is to provide a photographer’s perspective on our natural world.
Opening times: 10 am – 4 pm daily
judging results presented: July 2
There has always been a deep connection between art and the natural environment.
Naturally is an exhibition that aims to explore those connections through the photography of over 30 local, and very talented makers.
Art inspired by nature is the central theme of Naturally.
Our photographers, all members of The Queensland Camera Group (QCG), were challenged to provide their own perspective on the theme, and the results are as diverse, complicated, and thought-provoking as nature herself.
Participants in the exhibition were mentored by renowned and highly award landscape photographers Stef Dunn and Mel Sinclair.
To provide cohesion, makers were limited in their choice of both matt and frame. All works have been printed on stock sympathetic to both the style and vision of the image. Framed and unframed works are available for sale.
In addition to the gallery showing, the exhibition will be judged by leading wildlife photographer, Gary Cranitch. Garry is currently the photographer at Museum and Gallery Services Queensland and brings a wealth of practical photographic and judging experience to choosing the best in show of the exhibition. Joining Gary on the selection team will be Eric Victor from the Queensland Centre for Photography, who was involved in helping QCG to plan its exhibition. The winning and second-placed image/s along with a People’s Choice will be announced at a special event at the gallery on Sunday 2 July.
The Maud Gallery and the Queensland Centre for Photography are now closed until February 8, 2025.
We wish you happy and safe holidays.
